Welcome to the website of René Bloice-Sanders, a freelance opera singer and singing teacher currently working in London.
"Snapping at their heels for our attention is a honey-toned and remarkably lovable Papageno from René Bloice-Sanders, whose laddish disconnection from the artistic crises around him provides welcome contrast." - Charlotte Valori (Theatre Cat) review of Die Zauberflote, Opera Alegria.
"The dialogue of Papageno the birdcatcher-turned-theatre technician, played with subtle comic timing by René Bloice-Sanders, is a particular highlight" - Clementine Scott (Broadway World) review of Die Zauberflote, Opera Alegria.
"The cast, especially René Bloice-Sanders and the Three Ladies, play its most hyperbolic moments with a knowing deadpan." - Clementine Scott (Broadway World) review of Die Zauberflote, Opera Alegria.
"As the principal role, René fully engaged the audience with his shameless stares and smirks, performing very funnily alongside his brilliant, almost unceasingly merry henchman, bass-baritone Giles Davis." - Jenni Balow (The Cornishman) review of Don Giovanni, Surrey Opera.
"René Bloice-Sanders was a fine Onegin, a remote aristocrat in the early scenes and gentler than is sometimes the case with the gushing Tatiana, however in the final scene his constant physical assault on Tatiana was uncomfortable to watch." - Camilla Lake (Hastings Observer) review of Eugene Onegin, Opera South-East.
"René Bloice-Sanders is outstanding as Figaro, imbuing the character with an irrepressible spark of mischief and singing with gusto and panache." - Nicola Lisle (Oxford Times) review of the Barber of Seville, The Merry Opera Company.
"Bloice-Sanders – his eyes twinkling knowingly and his moustache twirling confidently – sings his famous first number so freshly that you feel you’re hearing it for the first time. His intonation and timing are highly accomplished and he’s no mean actor, especially when he catches the audience’s eye with a knowing look." - Susan Elkin (Sardines Magazine) review of the Barber of Seville, The Merry Opera Company.
"The baritone soloist, René Bloice-Sanders, with even tone and an unerring sense of line, added lustre to a splendidly atmospheric performance in the presence of the composer and a large and appreciative audience." - Church Times review of A Cornish Requiem, Voices of London Festival.
"Bloice-Sanders displayed lovely tone and power...Orfeo's despair and ensuing fortitude in the face of the challenge from Charon were rendered superbly...I particularly loved Orfeo's lament towards the end of the opera: Bloice-Sanders sung it with power and dignity" - Bachtrack review of L'Orfeo, Hampstead Garden Opera.
"René Bloice-Sanders' voice revealed no signs of tiring, despite Monteverdi's relentless demands, and handled the challenging baroque style with steady milky tones and skilfully conveyed the emotions of the story" - Fringe Opera review of L'Orfeo, Hampstead Garden Opera.
